If such has been the case with you, you needn’t worry. You are one of those struggling millions for whom maintenance of painted walls does not come easy.
You just had your walls painted, but the patches have begun to appear.
A huge stain stares at you when you look at the walls painted in your favourite colours.
You wonder how it all happened!
If such has been the case with you, you needn’t worry. You are one of those struggling millions for whom maintenance of painted walls does not come easy. The stains, patches and marks that visibly haunt your walls are a result of ignorance of a few facts. These facts, if known, determine the time, the paint on your walls would last. Thereby, it is considerably better to cast a look at the following:-
- It is generally observed that while cleaning a blot off the walls, another patch simultaneously appears, leaving the walls apparently smeared. This phenomenon is called burnishing. Do not rub your walls too hard to clean them. Simply dip a towel or sponge into water mixed with a mild soap and gently rub off the stains. This formula works equally well for all kinds of stains.
- For scratches that are caused by chairs, picture frames or strollers it is preferable to first clear out the abrasion on the walls and then stipple the old paint with small touch-ups of new paint. In fact it is much better to use chair-rail strips on the chairs and two hooks for the picture frames to avoid such dents in the first place.
- Do not vacuum your walls frequently. If you need to clear up the webs or dirt from your walls, make sure that the attachment you use in your cleaner is not made of metal. Light brush attachments would do the task wonderfully, without causing damage to the painted wall surface.
- Whenever you decide to have your walls painted, do not overlook the conventional methods used by painters. It is a must to clean up your walls thoroughly and build up the surface properly before you apply the paint. It is usually at the abrasive loose ends that the paint begins to fall off.
In the rush to paint walls, one often forgets to ponder over some simple facts which in due course of time take their toll. You are the doctor and your wall is your patient. Clean up its wounds with proper substances and lots of care to assist it to overcome its injuries.
After all, your painted walls do reflect your true taste, class and style!
