They are available in a wide range of styles, material and designs which suits the character of your house completely. We use window frames in our house whose main use is more than holding the glass in the wall. This frame allows us to open the window at that time when we need fresh air or wish to see outside. When a person plans to buy window frames, he should consider various aspects such as energy efficiency, cost, maintenance, cost of the frame, ease of cleaning the frame, durability and colour combination.
Basically, there are four types of window frame materials like wood, aluminium, Vinyl and Fibreglass. We find wooden frames to be quite famous and widely used due its basic feature of being able to divide into various shapes easily. Window frames which are found these days are made from UPVC due to its good strength and maintenance free nature. As they are made up of plastic, they can easily be converted into any size or shape.
You can see differences between the old home window designs such as diamond shaped black lines across the glass and in modern windows you will find aluminium or Vinyl frames suiting the style of new homes. Another important material which is quite new and expensive is fibreglass composite. This material is quite expensive due to its strength and is quite common for its residential use in making windows. As this product is quite new, most of the window fitters are not able to provide it due to the cost factor.
Window glazing is usually of three types and seeing the weather conditions in various countries, people prefer using double glazing which adds to their comfort, style and proves to be energy efficient. Window glazing helps in providing the home noise free with its strong resistant feature.
Some windows are also made up of PVC, whereas here the advantage is that the frames don’t require painting and prove to be energy efficient with excellent insulation. PVC has a disadvantage that in extreme weather conditions, it leads to expansion and contraction which leads to cracks in it.
Window frames made up of fibreglass are quite beneficial when we talk about various temperature changes. Best part is that they do not contract or expand on temperature changes. Sometimes, they prove to be good thermal insulators.
You can also find steel window frames and they were more preferred by people in 1990’s. This product is hardly used by people nowadays. The main disadvantage of using steel as window frame is that they rust and require great maintenance. Apart from this, steel window frame are quite heavy which makes them a substance, heavy to handle.
