Generally if you paint the ceiling a couple of hues lighter than the walls the effect is that of enhanced height of the room.

Paint your wall in vertical stripes as the eye movements to see the vertical stripes go from bottom upwards and makes the ceiling appear look higher than they are.

Paint the border of the ceiling in the same color as the walls which will give a false impression of walls extended a bit more than their height.
